History

  • MBO was incorporated in 1965 in Oppenweiler, Germany, by Heinz Binder.
  • At the start, very technically sophisticated parts were produced for aeroplane hydraulics, for Airbus.
  • Shortly afterwards, the company decided to develop and build paper folding machines, used for the production of books, magazines, brochures and maps.
  • In 1972 we began the construction of the first production plant in Portugal.
  • We chose Matosinhos due to its excellent location close to the port of Leixões, airport, Ter Tir (Truck / Customs Terminal), as well as the road network.
  • MBO Portugal underwent major growth in 1993, after the opening of the new facilities in Perafita-Matosinhos.
  • 22,500 m² of production and assembly units were built on a site with a total area of 95,000 m².
  • Since then, the residential area next to MBO was built, to house the resident technicians and visitors.
  • The MBO Group was acquired by the Japanese Komori Corporation in May 2020.
  • MBO Portugal currently has 200 employees, distributed over the assembly, production and administrative areas.
